1st Rise of the Phoenix ஜ Action

[Ikki is walking through the village with relative calm, he's not pleased and it's obvious in his body language that he's stressed and annoyed. Who wouldn't be, having found himself in an unknown place, a place where he didn't intend to be?

The fact that no matter how much he expanded his Cosmos, he couldn't find his brothers' Cosmos or the Cosmos of anyone he knew didn't help in the situation. Still, he looks quite sure of where he's going, even if he's not, and only the loose-fitting white cotton pants he's wearing point out that he's new in the place.

Those particularly sensible to spiritual energy may notice his strong Cosmos -full of contained anger and hate, directed to no one but obviously there- constantly reaching out and basically checking everyone he can reach. Searching for something, or someone, that would explain him being stuck in that place. Unable to return to where he intended to go or contact his friends, so far he's not having any luck and the idea he's starting to get doesn't please him.]

[Ikki nods, how convenient that everything is free, then again she said they were captives so it made some sense. Thought it's hard to believe that people would be selfless enough to allow that to happen, but if the general situation is bad enough even greed would have to take a back seat.

He doesn't worry about a place to stay, he used to live in a volcano after all. He'll think about that later.]

What's exactly the situation with those Malnosso you mentioned?

Well um... no one's really sure. I think they're outside the big barrier bubble we're in now? [She frowns a bit at that. She actually doesn't know as much about this situation as she might like to on second reflection]

[So they are outside their reach? Still Ikki doesn't buy that completely, from experience to maintain any sort of barrier there must be someone or something inside it to keep it completely sealed. It doesn't work just by being outside or even far from it. Anyway it will take work to reach them, Ikki's not pleased.

She said the barrier was a bubble, which means it covers a whole circular area. He will have to take a look at it personally before moving on.]

Fine. From this place, what's the shortest direction to the barrier?

A friend? That's good too.

[Well, there are people who will consider "friends" even the ants on their gardens, so he's not going to judge that. He has never been an animal person, then again he isn't very much of a people person either, so, yeah, he's not one to call friends out easily.

He snorts lightly before glancing at her.]

Yes, you have kept me from going to fetch a stupid book, find my Cloth and go find a way out of this place. Certainly things that can't wait at all.

[Sarcasm, he has it.]

[She took a moment to consider the question. It wasn't that she would lie about the situation, but it was a matter of how to phrase it based off of what she knew and what she understood from others.]

My experience here is limited as I have not been here long. But we have all been brought here by the Malnosso to be used as test subjects for their experiments. What those experiments are varies, and I've yet to see one be performed.

[She continued to explain perhaps one of the more dangerous aspects of their prison.] There are other instances of individuals being kidnapped for separate experiments other than the ones that affect the village as a whole. The length of time before their return is also unpredictable, as is how they are chosen for such experiments.

[As she talks Ikki shifts from upset to annoyed and finally to fully angered, almost furious if the way he clenches his fists is any indication.]

So we're brought here against our will, locked unable to leave, feed and clothed without charge at exchange of being guinea pigs for the wishes of those who brought us here. Is that right?

[How frigging familiar, it felt almost as the Kido mansion, version two. And of course those pigs won't be around enough for those trapped to get a hold on them.]

Any idea about where those Malnosso are?

[...Er. She considers for a moment and then points in the direction she figures is north. That should be closest, right?]

[He hums in approval as he looks at the direction she's pointing to.]

Good. Thank you for your help.

[He's about to start to go following the direction she pointed to but stops. First he should recover his Cloth, just in case. Cue Ikki concentrate on something, trying to pinpoint where exactly his armor is, forgive him for not paying you much attention Charlotte.]

[ Polka's never gone so far as to call a bug her friend- that's just weird to her. Still, she supposed ... if they were smart enough to ... ]

Um - - but there really isn't a way out of here. I'm pretty sure everyone would have said so if there was. [ She jiggles the doorknob, and pushes the door open. ] What's so special about a cloth?

[Oh no, she's fine. She got distracted by something out and as such derped off in some random direction... later]

[Iris agreed with his basic description, and apologized for having to tell him the news.]

Y-yes, from what we understand, that is correct. The only way for anyone to leave so far is that they disappear from here, but when that happens is unclear.

From my understanding, they're outside the barrier. They can be contacted through the journal, but I do not know if they are always willing to respond. I'm sorry...

[Ikki raises an eyebrow at her apologize.]

Unless you are one of the Malnosso there's no reason for you to apologize, woman.

[Why do people have the feeling to apologize even if they have no reason for it? He rarely feels the need, even when he has reasons to.]

I supposed so, but it's not in a Saint's nature to give up without trying.

[Or to give up even after trying. Just because no way out hasn't been found yet doesn't mean that there's no way out.]

Hn. It's called a Cloth but for most of the people it would be an armor. I can fight without it but it's always better to have it on when I do, not only it protects my body but helps to channel my Cosmos' energy more easily.

Saint...? Oh! You're a priest?

[ Wait - armor? Priests don't wear armor. Battle priest? ]

Oh.. I think I understand. I'm not sure what the Cosmos is but I have heard people say that they use other things to use their power better.

[ Like herself. Though why she uses a -parasol- who can say. ]

[Ikki blinks at that.]

No, I'm a warrior who fights and kills the enemies of the Goddess Athena. She protects my world and faces those who want to destroy it, even if that means opposing other Gods of higher rank than her. "Saint" is just the name she gave to her army formed by humans willing to fight for her, it's not related to priests at all.

[Though technically it is, but for Ikki a priest is a man who just does little more than to talk about the God he serves and try to fix things with pretty words.]

The Cosmos is an energy that grows inside us and supports our lives. Athena's Saints are trained to make full use of it since early age, but every living being has it.

[It's a habit of hers. She couldn't help it since he had gotten upset.]

I'm not one of them. I know it isn't my fault. I do wish you luck if you do intend to contact them.

[She looked out toward the forest now. He could find find out more too through the Guide in the journal.] Are we nearing the location you first arrived at?

Contact them isn't exactly what I have in mind.

[Unless she means the contact of his fists against their faces, in which case there will be a lot of contact going on. He stops for a moment before nodding forward.]

The lingering Cosmos leads a bit further in this direction. I don't remember if I saw it close to me or while I was already moving towards the village.

[He scans the ground.]

Oh. [ Well she feels silly now. ] I've never heard of such a Goddess. She protects your entire world? [ Maybe her world wouldn't be in such a situation if they had a God like that.

... or maybe they do, and that's why she has to do what she does. ] Cosmos... That sounds like astra - a little at least. Back home I mean.

Still, I wish you luck on your endeavor.

[Not that she would promote violence, but justice is justice. She helped look for the journal, but was also curious about what he had just mentioned.]

The Cosmos? Is that part of a power you possess?

[Any sort of spiritual power interested her. The people who arrived here or who were here were much more open-minded about that sort of ability, unlike many of those from her home.]

[A dimension without Athena... The thought is as disturbing as intriguing, then again it could be that they have her, just with another name.]

She does, she was left in charge of it by her father, the leader of all the Gods and Goddesses, when he left for a journey. Where and why I don't know, neither I care. Athena is now the protector of Earth and she defends humanity's right to live, no matter how bad the situation gets. She's even willing to sacrifice her own life to protect it.

[And Polka's Cosmos reminds him of her somehow, thought he's not going to mention it, at least yet.]

Hn, it could be the same thing. In my dimension it already has many different names, I don't see how it would be different in other dimensions. What do you refer to by astra?

[Ikki hopes that this deal of having to pick up things he has never seen before doesn't repeat itself. What kind of person goes around and picks up a random book they find and have never seen or owned before?]

The short explanation is that the Cosmos is the energy that grows inside us and supports our lives. Athena's Saints are trained to make full use of it since early age, but every living being has it.

[After all Athena's Saints are a secret from the world, thought even if they weren't many people wouldn't believe them. The civilians who do so have been involved in their fights and lives for too long to be allowed to deny their existence, but for the rest of the world... Not to mention that humans can be quite close-minded about that sort of thing.]

... [ That ... really kind of pings with Polka. Awkward a moment. ] That's amazing... but it must have to get pretty bad for something like that to happen for a Goddess to sacrifice herself...

[ She hmms. ] Well... mother told me that everyone has a seed inside of them - astra, the light that shines inside of you. It reflects how good of a person you are - I guess it's sort of like a person's soul. [ She chuckles softly, remembering how worried she'd been when she swiped a cookie when she was little. ]

It's different for everyone, depending on their actions in their life.

Not really, in theory she should only go to that if we, her Saints, failed at defeating the enemy. But despite having us she doesn't approve of us sacrificing our lives for her and the world, so more often than not we have actually ended having to defeat the enemy before Athena sacrifices herself. She has even hided information from us to avoid getting us involved and solve it by sacrificing herself.

[Which in Ikki's opinion is really annoying, even if it's something that deserves admiration. For starters Athena is Saori, and despite everything he can't forget that Saori used to be a bitch with them when they were children. Not to mention that because of her they were forced to become Saints and many died in the process. She can't just go and throw herself at the enemy to sacrifice herself and hope that they will just sit and take it. The Sanctuary doesn't have a retirement system.]

And the one time she went to fight and not to sacrifice herself, she still had to die first. She's too goddamn settled on wanting to avoid deaths, except her own of course.

[Ikki growls at that memory. At least this time she's taking Shun with her, thought he's not sure if it's just because Shun got to her BEFORE she went on her own.]

YSo it's basically the same thing, even with different explanation. The idea of the Cosmos is based in that our own bodies store the same potential as the big universe in which we are, and by making that universe collapse and expand we can make use of our Cosmos. It also serves to tell a lot of a person, as each Cosmos is unique and reflects the person's nature and intentions.

[Iris herself did not have any spiritual powers, but she knew that in some form or another that power existed in the world.]

I see. Then you are skilled with using it for any specific purposes? It must have taken some time to train and perfect it.

You are considered a Saint and revered as one?

[She thought back of the training sessions and spiritual training others had undergone at the temple dojo. The only time anyone visited the temple was for training, and if not that, it was a reporter covering what was considered abnormal or odd. She never did appreciate the stigma the non-believers placed on them.]

Saints start training at a very young age anyway, we grow up with it. But in all cases we are forced to go through a living hell to master it.

[He says it so casually it does drive in the idea that a living hell is a normal thing for him. He snorts at her next question thought, she has a point in asking but still the idea of that type of saint is ridiculous to him.]

I'm not that kind of Saint. I'm an Athena's Saint, it's just how Athena decided to name the warriors in her army. [He shrugs, why they are called that way has never picked his curiosity.]

I'm a warrior, I've fought and killed the enemies of Athena and who tried to destroy the world. There's nothing to revere there.
