5th Rise of the Phoenix ஜ Voice/Action Backdated to Monday's morning

[During the past two weeks, Smoker, resident of Community Building 1, room 27, got some company in the form of a small kid named Ikki. Said kid though, is now again his proper age and though he intentionally slacked on saying much during the past day once he woke up as his normal self, Ikki supposes that it's about time to... He doesn't know, but probably some thanks are in order, as well as getting his ass out of Smoker's place. He's not really sure where the other man is, mostly because Ikki himself has yet to exit the room he got while he was here, so he'll use the journal for a check-in. That's exactly for what it serves, right?]

Smoker, you around?

[There, no filter, because Giles didn't get to teach him that, which is logical as he was a frigging kid, and Ikki isn't really the kind to look for that unless it's heavily important.]

Exactly, how many people got the chance to revisit their kid years during the experiment?

[Just plain curiosity... And that he wants to know how many of the kids he met while he was one are now adults in size.

Later in the day Ikki will be wandering around the village, checking shops and looking at everyone that crosses paths with him. No intense stares or anything, just a normal casual glance which may become firmer if the face is familiar to him. For most this doesn't mean much, but until today Ikki hadn't really paid much attention to what was going on in the village unless it was under attack or there was some kind of emergency or danger. It's also the first time he's walking around without his Pandora box.

Sooner or later, he'll end at the bar once again, drinking yesterday wasn't enough for him apparently.]

No, never. I have been kidnapped a handful of times, but that's as close as I've gotten to a break from the village.

[Ikki hums, the noise filtering through the journals.]

My name's Phoenix Ikki, either works. And you're?

I'm Rydia of Mist. I work at the Welcome Center.

The Welcome Center? I was there while I was a kid, and once before during a party that was hold there.

[Not enough to see her around. Though back at the party time he still was in his mode of barely looking at people himself so he can't say if he saw her or not.]

That must have been before I returned. I was kidnapped for most of that month, but a couple of the girls who have helped me at the center decided on that party. I'm glad they did.

I see, I would ask if you're alright but after so long it serves of little.

I'm not much of a party expert, but there were a lot of people if memory serves right. I suppose it's what they would call a success. The food was good as well, Minako is a good cook.

Maybe we'll do something like that again. I don't see why not, if everyone's up to it.

[He's not a party type, woman. He only ended there by chance and isn't interested in more, neither interested in there not being more though. Neutrality, he has it.]

If it was clear again what the cycle for arrivals is you could do it shortly after it ends or even during it. Rather than a party some kind of festival. Basically something that would call their attention.

[Or something like that. Whatever, he hasn't need the Welcome Center until he was a kid and even then he only went there 'cause Ami insisted.]

I suspect the next cycle will be in January, but they've changed it a few times, so I can't be completely certain. That's not a bad idea, though. We'll see how busy it gets, but I wouldn't mind a little something like that.

There are already many indications around to guide them, but humans tend to not pay attention to what's helpful to them until they have seen by themselves that they need it. Calling their attention in some way usually works best.

How busy tend the cycles to be? At least up until now.

Oh, they're quite busy. Even changing the cycle from once a month to once every month hasn't changed that; the Malnosso still bring in quite a number of people each time.

It happened once a month before?

[He arrived right when the cycles changed and he hasn't really asked about that so...]

Sounds stressing.

It did, from last year until...about April of this one. Then we didn't get anyone for several months, and that's when the cycle shifted to every other month. No one knows exactly why.

April... That's about when I arrived here. I remember there being no arrivals for some months.

[Ikki hums for a moment before his attention goes back to something else that called it.]

Rydia of Mist, is 'of Mist' some kind of title or rank?

No, not really. It's the name of my home village. I don't have a last name, so that's how I introduce myself.

I see. I don't have a last name either, Phoenix refers to my rank as an Athena Saint. But since there's only one Phoenix Saint it may very well be a name directly.

What exactly is a Phoenix Saint? ...or an Athena Saint, for that matter? What do you do?

Well... Do you know what a God or a Goddess is? Are there any in your world?

Well...I suppose you could say that, yes. There's Bahamut.

[Humming, not really ringing any bell.]

Athena is a Goddess. My world has many Gods and Goddesses actually, basically speaking they 'created' humanity in the ancient past, though it has been a long time since humanity separated from them. Or rather, since they themselves separated from humanity.

Athena is the daughter of the leader of all those Gods and Goddesses, Zeus, and she was left with the duty of protecting the Earth when Zeus himself vanished centuries ago. The Saints are her warriors, her army of sorts, who fight to protect her and the world from the other deities.

I see....

So there's a lot of strife between her and these other deities?

It has been going on for centuries, basically as long as Zeus has been gone. I don't know if the other Gods' objectives were always to destroy humanity, neither I care, but that's how it's now and why we fight them.

Athena never starts a war, though, even if she's the Goddess of War. It's always them who come to us... Though that might change in the future.

[After all, Athena had taken action for the first time ever to do something challenging to other Gods, hadn't she?]

...and I thought my world was violent. It sounds a heavy burden, to be part of that struggle.

I couldn't say, it's what I've been in for most of my life. Though I suppose that there'll be one day in which the cycle of wars will break. One of Athena's most terrible enemies was Hades, the God of Death and the Underworld. He's the one with whom she had kept the longest war, always only managing to seal him off, not defeat him.

He's dead now, no more seals and returns for him.

[He smirks, satisfied, though there's a heavy weight on it. It was a victory, and it's obvious from his tone and smirk that it was one he's satisfied with, proud of. But it's also obvious that it came with a price.]

[Her tone is solemn when she speaks up next, knowing all about those kinds of victories.]

At least you don't have that weighing on your while you're here. It's done, whatever the cost.
