How many of you have gone to school? I don't mean studying about something specific like magic to be a sorcerer or however that's done. I mean a general school, with several classes and a lot of hours sitting on a desk doing nothing but listening to the teacher. Do that type of schools even exist in your world?

[No, he hasn't been thinking about the whole school thing since his talk with Selphie about it. No, he's not asking because she seemed to find it kind of important or at least useful. And that filter doesn't mean he doesn't want her to know that he's starting to be interested, because he isn't. Definitively.]

[After making that post and talking with whoever cared to answer, Ikki will be found wandering around town. He doesn't seem to be in a great mood, which isn't unusual but those that know him even a bit will probably notice that he seems to be in a worse mood than normal. He will be accompanied by his per, the wolf cub Hyoga, which will be running around happily and playing with him.

He will also end stalking wherever Selphie may be. As well as those he knew and the people from the "family" he got for ten days, but you won't see him bothering to go to talk to anyone unless they notice him first. Really, he had decided to pay no mind to the experiment and just throw it to his back, like everything else that bothered him. It was easier that way, to keep moving forward and not look back. Don't worry about the stalking, it's nothing serious, it's basically just that if they are outside and around Ikki will spend several minutes somewhere around them in a radius of ten meters doing virtually nothing besides being there.]

Well...now it's different anyway, since I can't summon.

[She can't? Ah, right, summoning means calling another being to where you are after all, if it's how he imagines it. Since they can't get out it would be logic to assume no one can get in voluntarily.]

There are many things we can't do anymore while in this place, hn?

No kidding. It could definitely be worse, of course, but it's hard to ignore what's lost, all the same.

That it could be worse doesn't take away the fact that this is bad.

[Pause, he remembers seeing her in the drafts but never got to see her fight if she did.]

Do your summons work outside of the barrier? During the drafts.

...no. I wish I knew why. In here, I could blame the barrier, but....

[There's a "tch" sound. When he was drafted he didn't try to return to his dimension as there were other things he had to worry about. Sure, he could have tried but if it had worked he would have abandoned many people, some of them civilians, and nor Athena or himself would forgive something like that. If there hadn't been a battle it would have been different, though from the sound of it it would be useless either way.]

Maybe they can't just reach this dimension. Or maybe the whole planet we are on has a barrier similar to the one we are in right now.

[Hmph. She hates the concept entirely, but has to reluctantly agree with hit, by this point.]

...it might be the former. The Malnosso's power isn't absolute in this world, after all. Then again, if there is another barrier, it might not be their doing for the same reason.

Even if their power isn't absolute maybe the barrier we're trapped in is just a reproduction from the one trapping the world itself.

[But that could mean that even if they managed to break the barrier there maybe the one around the world itself wouldn't be as "easy" to break.]

At least it would match with their claims of them themselves not being able to leave.

[He sounds sarcastic there, honestly he doesn't care if they are trapped there too or not. They are the enemy as things stand, just like the Third Party.]

[A slight huff.]

If that's even true. Who knows, with them.

Personally I don't swallow that, I could if their supposed experiments really had an objective of getting everyone out of here. But I don't see how making people fall in love or mess with their heads is going to get us home.

[Pause.]

Unless they have given up on finding a way out of this world and instead are looking for a way to make us believe there's no need to go anywhere because we're home already. They may even consider it an act of kindness.

[He has heard stranger things, like how death is the ultimate salvation.]

[Long pause at that.]

...bizarre, but I wouldn't put anything beyond them, at this point.

Neither would I. Besides lately it seems they go out of their way to make it so we don't remember past experiments nor realize when we are in one.

You're talking about that horrible love experiment, aren't you? If they do that again....

Exactly, with that one and the one we got the past month... It's almost as if they are aiming to see how much they can screw with our minds as a whole without us noticing it. Specially when they claim that the last one had been supposed to last longer than ten days.

Those are even worse than being transformed into some random whatever. I'd rather have my own mind and memories than have those tampered with.

Who would prefer otherwise?

Then again maybe that's what they want, to transform our bodies and minds completely beyond recognition and without "time limit".

[That thought was cruel, but Ikki has never been overly optimistic.]
