11th Rise of the Phoenix ஜ Action/Voice

[One of the problems of living with Smoker is that, as silent as the man can be he's pretty good at his job as a police -or rather, a marine- and getting information. Ikki had forgot about that and about telling the man when his birthday was, something he had made a point to not tell anyone because it was pointless. Had her remembered he would have gone out the night before and thus avoid finding a cake prepared for him in the morning of his birthday. How did Smoker even know which was his favorite will always be a mystery, but Ikki's plans to go hole himself at the bar and drink until he didn't know who he was were foiled.

Ikki stares at the cake with a frown, there are worse things to do on one's birthday than to eat cake with his ~~best friend~~ roommate and Kohaku but still, he would have prefered to avoid any of this.]

A birthday cake. Was it necessary?

[There's an obvious drunk slur in the words broad-casted, as well as an obvious lack of direction and a good deal of randomness.]

Never thought I would live past 21. Wait, Saga and the others were far older... Guess I still have a few more years before getting screwed.

Tch, this glass is broken, the liquor keeps running out. [Maybe it wouldn't be broken if he stopped drinking? Nah, that's silly.] 'Kay, one more round-... Hey! Where the hell is my sister? No, brother... Nah, that one isn't here, is he? Or was it a she? Whatever, I'll call it "S" and be done with it.

Maybe they have been sent home too, everyone seems to get the ticket out of here lately... [Some hitting sounds, as if someone is knocking at the journal.] Heey, anyone left here yet?

[Gets Kohaku milk. And sets some honey on the table. All of this is done wordlessly. They are the most talkative roommates ever I swear.]

[They are indeed. Normally it doesn't matter... Well, it doesn't matter today either, in fact if it keeps up the only thing to flag this day would be the cake. Cake at which Ikki is still staring holes into, he says nothing to the milk and honey though, by now he already knows about Kohaku's feeding habits and needs.]

[Well, it's obvious that she's amused by the fact that she doesn't need to ask for anything, and will happily drink her milk and honey for a few moments before speaking up. Because the silence is getting creepy.]

...Who's birthday is it??

[Points sideways to Ikki.]

Mine was in March. [Since that's a good 8 months away, he's not worried about revenge.]

[Certainly, Smoker's birthday is a long way from now. But Ikki will get back at you somehow. For starters, Hyoga will get new chewing toys and Smoker will get lesser shoes.]

There was no need for a cake though.

[Frowning.]

[And her's is in May! She usually forgets about it though.]

Doesn't everybody get cake for a birthday though?

Typically yes. Or presents. I figured cake was easier.

[Best friend ever.]

[Ikki forgets about it too. Unless someone has to be nosy and celebrate it with him or something, though Smoker has a point.]

Some people also do parties. But yeah, the cake is easier and better, even if it was not necessary.

[And it's just the three of them plus a wolf cub. Ikki can deal with it.]

[She has yet to understand the parties for birthdays...]

Well, I'm sorry I didn't get you anything, but happy birthday.

Parties are too loud. I'll leave those to Selphie.

[Just glaring at you Smoker. Selphie shouldn't know when his birthday is, unless she remembers from the experiment time, so don't give her ideas.]

I didn't want anything either way, so it's fine, Kohaku. Thank you.

[But aren't parties fun?? But aw, she likes giving people presents.]

[She should give him the gift of singing flowers. Obviously what every man needs in his life.]

Here try some already, I want to make sure it didn't get burnt. [Yes Ikki, you're a test dummy. At least he didn't tell anyone else.]

[Suggest her that and he will murder you in your sleep, Smoker. And parties aren't fun for the people who prefer to be wallflowers.]

If it's a test dummy that you want, isn't Hyoga enough?

[He will take a bite though, he's not serious about giving the poor animal something that could be bad for it.]

[Oh she wishes she could give everybody that. He might just get a flower though.]

Is it bad if it's burnt?

[Oh, so oblivious to food it hurts.]

Yeah, but it's probably fine. Besides, Hyoga's no good for that, he thinks boots are delicious.

Have you tried them? Maybe they are delicious after all.

[He chuckles before he eyes Kohaku.]

If something is burnt it tends to taste badly, though it depends on how much it's burnt.

[The cake is fine though, as he keeps eating.]

[You have no idea how much she wants to ask how he knows that boots taste good...]

That makes cooking sound even more confusing.

[Not that she even could, but she's kind of watched people, and it looks confusing.]

I guess cooking is a little strange. It's like an art. Which is why it's weird. [Because art is weird apparently.]

[And thus he can survive and bake things... but not necessarily all that well. He tries though and he's had practice. Close enough.]

I'll try a boot if you will first, but I don't want one with dog slobber. [Calling your bluff Ikki, don't make him really go through on this.]

[He has nothing to say regarding cooking being confusing or weird. He can cook, enough so he can survive to the next day and don't become a weak and hungry being. He has no idea if he does it well or not, it doesn't make him vomit or get poisoned so it's good enough for him.]

If you're going to be picky with what they may have it would be better to just go and grab a new and unused pair, though then it will be tougher when chewing.

[Who said he's bluffing?]

[Oh, Kohaku thinks they're being serious about this...]

...Why would you want to eat a boot?

[Actually given these two... they might be.]

If you boil it long enough, it should be fine.

[Not sure how to answer the "Why." I mean they have perfectly reasonable food that doesn't taste like (BECAUSE IT IS) leather. But that would be boring.]

To prove a point. [Honesty is the best policy.]

[Ikki nods at the boiling idea.]

And you can get a soup that way for a first dish.

[Smoker's answer to Kohaku makes him snort a bit, he's being honest as to why they would do it right now, but that's not the only thing.]

You would eat anything when you have nothing to eat. When it reaches to the point in which you just need something in the stomach, beyond health issues, even footwear is delicious.

[Alright, now she looks grossed out.]

...I am so happy that I don't need to eat.

It's probably for the best, yes. But then we don't need sunlight to charge up either. [Well kind of... seeing as vegetables and such.]
