[There's a long pause on his end before a "tch" sound is heard and he manages to turn the camera so Rin can see to what he's exactly talking. A bird, an orange flaming bird that looks as displeased as a bird can look.]
Like this, I guess. Guess the Malnosso decided to give more sense to my name.

I noticed. Except that he can turn into a human again, and I can't.
[Which is a real annoyance, or he would be human and just ignore the "issue" until it went away.]

[Ikki raises a leg, showing its claws.]
This and with Cosmos, thankfully they didn't take that. It's a bit tricky though, I can answer calls at least.
Assuming anyone bothers with calling me.
[Which he thought it wouldn't happen but... It happened.]

Marco has an excessive amount of seeds and other things edible by birds. And he has been more than happy to feed me.
[And when he says excessive he means it with capital letters. And when he says that Marco has been very happy to do so he means that his brother has been making him want to poke out one of his eyes on a regular basis. Apparently, he thinks that Ikki's current state is adorable.]

Try to have a beak instead of teeth, you can tell me then how it goes when you try to eat meat without having someone preparing it to you.
[Sarcasm, he's not really intending Rin to do that, of course.]
It's already annoying enough as it is. I don't need to have Marco babysit me more. At least it seems my taste has been altered to fit that of a bird's so the seeds actually manage to taste good.

I said that my taste sense has been altered, not my brain.
[He will die before he does that, thank you very much.]

[The sound that follows that isn't a chuckle. No, Rin didn't just make him laugh. Not at all.]

If one is desperate enough to do that they may as well cut one of their legs and eat its meat, the bones could serve to make soup as well.
[Not that he has thought about that, but he has seen some extreme things people did when hungry at his old training place. From selling children and family members as slaves or as anything so long as they could get money or food in exchange, to maiming oneself to have something to eat.]
And before reaching that extreme I would resort to eating grass and roots. They aren't much and taste horribly, but it helps when the hunger is too much to bear.

I'll do my best to never be in that situation, then.
[Pause.]
Hn... Have you ever wondered what you would be able to do so you can survive?
Not that much, no.
It's probably better that way, being pushed to the extremes of needing to make a decision on that isn't something people should endure.
[He means he hopes Rin will never have to actually wonder that seriously and answer the question. But saying that would make it seem that he cares about Rin specifically, because he's a friend, and Ikki doesn't admit to that easily.]
[But that's an old gripe.]
[That's all he says at first and after a moment he adds.]
So long as you know your own boundaries and are able to stick to them, it shouldn't be problem when you make those decisions.
[...]
But yeah if you wanna hang out sometime, we can.
[Yes, he wants, but he can't say it, he has a reputation to keep or something.]
