[Yes, he fails at filters.]
General question for all of you. What would you-...
[No, that's not a good idea. He doesn't need that, she has told him several times, right? She likes books, which means a book is probably the best gift, he doesn't need to ask what to give her. A book will do. She also liked the plushies he gave her before so there's that, maybe he can get a teddy bear for her on top of it, since if she loves books that much she probably has read a lot of them.
Then again, maybe that only applies to the ones in her world, and there are way too many books in the world to read them all anyway. Yes, that sounds like a good question. He clears his throat a bit.]
Book recommendations. Anyone knows of interesting books to read? Novels, tales, science, any theme will do.
[She probably will enjoy it either way so... Should he ask that it won't be too complicated? No, even if she reads them to him as well he can ask if he doesn't get something. It's a gift just for her after all.]

[He hums a bit, thinking of Kotomi. What themes would she like?]
Ah, something with a happy ending, or a bittersweet one. No tragedies that end only in tears. Is that more specific?
[ voice ]
How about a genre? Romance, comedy, anything?

I mean, I'm interested in the widest range possible. Assume the reader is someone who reads a book basically everyday or so, from simple fairy tales to complex stories about love, life and death, to books about biology or so.

As far as fiction goes, for horror or suspense, I like Stephen King. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or Edgar Allen Poe for classic mystery. Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe for classic English drama, and Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, and F. Scott Fitzgerald for American literature. I've seen some of their books in the library, they're all famous authors from my world and it's many variants.

Mythology guide, huh? That sounds interesting. I have heard about this Shakespeare guy but not much.

He's a famous playwright from my world. There's a good few famous poets and their works too if you'd prefer poetry. Edgar Allen Poe. William Wordsworth. Oscar Wilde to name a few.

Observe the helpfulness Ikki! ^.^
Books huh? Any particular genre or anything like that?
he's thankful, really.
Not really... I suppose nothing that has a bad ending.
As he should be. ^^
Nothing with a bad ending...
[Checking her bookshelf.]
What about The Bean Trees?

Count of Monte Cristo. Legend of the Rainbow Mist. And I'm still trying to get the tales about Lupin III's grandfather, so if you see those, let me borrow them. So far I can only find them in another language. [French.]
Or do you want something your lady friend would like? [Yes, he said lady friend, no he doesn't regret it, and yes, he knooows.]
no subject
[He hums, he wonders if Kotomi can read other languages? She's pretty intelligent, maybe she does know other languages. He will have to ask.
He flinches a bit at that comment, of course Smoker would catch on things. But it's okay. Ikki's resourceful when he has to be.]
I guess I can let her read them if she likes them, but that's all.
[Because he plans to ask her to read them to him anyway... He's doing that a lot, lately.]

Is that all? And you think I'm bad at relationships.
So how come you're hiding her?

[Hiccup reads. A lot. But he's never really recommended things before. He's still new to this whole...fiction thing.]
voice;
No horror or things with terrible bad endings, besides that, anything does.
voice;
What about mysteries? I've read quite a few of those. You know--figuring out 'who done it' and such.

I don't, so long as it's not horror or something with a terrible ending. Although I don't think there are many books like that.
