The forest is burning with flames that reach higher than many of the residents will have ever seen. There's something off in that fire thought, to begin with no animals are trying to escape from it. Another strange thing is the lack of smoke or heat that should accompany such a big fire. Yet the fire is there, as real as everything else, just lacking the normal effects it should have.

For anyone curious enough to check on it they will find they they can walk through the fire without burning or feeling even an inch warmer then before. Unless they come with evil intentions, in which chances are they will at the very least be burned a bit, and the force of the fire will increase as they approach its center. People without evil intentions will be able to waltz through it as if nothing was there, finding animals and vegetation inside the fire totally unharmed, and in what would be the center of the fire, they'll find Ikki, sitting on a rock with his Pandora Box besides him.

Eyes closed as he sits calmly, anyone capable of feeling or being affected even a bit by his Cosmos will probably notice a poke upon approaching and a great concentration in the young man.]

They get burned, the degree of it depends of their strength thought.

[And obviously they also feel the heat of the flames, even those to whom fire normally would do nothing. At least he has seen men who manipulated flames as trained pets get turned into charcoal by his flames.]

Where you looking for something?

[No, he doesn't find normal to have people walk to where he is and ask if he's the responsible. Then again back at his world he only did it inside volcanoes so no one noticed it much.]

Mm. I saw the flames and thought it should be investigated. I figured it might be a certain pirate responsible. But since it only harms evil, it's something I can appreciate.

I'm Smoker, by the way. [Offers a hand if it won't disrupt the meditation.]

A pyromaniac pirate?

[As if pirates aren't dangerous enough. At least the pirates he has heard of in the news sometimes in his world, far from being anything like the ones often found in novels and tales.]

I'm Ikki, the Phoenix Saint.

[He opens his eyes to look at Smoker and shakes his hand with a firm grip. Again the flames stir for a moment but still remain, except for Ikki's deep and slow breath, slower than any normal rhythm, it wouldn't seem as if it costs him any effort what he's doing.]

Something like that. He's a pirate that turns into fire. I've heard that he's alive here.

A phoenix? That explains a bit... There's another pirate in my world with that moniker too actually.

["Alive here"? So not in his world?]

It seems this place has that effect. In my case it's more than a moniker, it's basically a rank back in my world.

A ranking system?

In his case, it's a devil fruit. He turns into a giant blue-flamed turkey.

It's the easiest way to explain its meaning and importance in my world. There's only one of each Saint, it's a proof of one's strength in some way.

I see. And you fight evil I assume?

[uccellodifuoco]

In the name of the Goddess Athena, I fight against those that search the destruction of humans.

[justicereigns]

Including other humans with that goal?

[uccellodifuoco]

There is no difference for me. Be it a God, a human, a demon or an angel from Heavens, if they search the destruction of humans and oppose Athena, they are my enemies and I'll fight against them until they are defeated.

Evil likes to spread to anything that can be turned by it.

[justicereigns]

Good. [Self-satisfied nod.]

Sounds about right. More like a plague than anything else.

One we can't get rid off, thought it's probably for the better. Without evil to remind us of our values, everything we stand for would lose its meaning in the long run. Just like light will turn anyone blind if they keep staring at it without looking at the shadows at times.

[justicereigns]

Perhaps. I'd miss my job if it was unnecessary, but I don't know that I'd be wholly ungrateful.

Moot point anyway. [Sigh.]

I wouldn't miss the endless war.

[But he would worry about other things. He's an Athena's Saint and will follow her everywhere, but only as far as he wants in the end, if she were to become corrupted... He isn't sure what he would do but he's ready to confront her anyway. And a world too peaceful and where she's the only one at power seems like a dangerous temptation in his opinion. Still he has trust in her at the same time, so everything is simply reduced to a crazy "what if".]

Mind if I ask what is your job? I take it's related to fighting the evil-doers, is that right?

[justicereigns]

Correct. I follow justice. True justice. [Gestures to the back of his jacket, the wings are folded underneath thanks to his own training.] In my world, I chased pirates.

[uccellodifuoco]

Are pirates a big problem in your world? There are some pirates in mine too but they aren't a main problem, specially as long as people don't sail through the waters were they are contained.

[justicereigns]

There aren't any oceans without pirates in my world. The more dangerous the ocean, the more heavily pirates travel it. My world is mostly ocean with some islands, so sailing is the only means for trade. The individual countries can't deal with pirates alone since they leave too quickly so it falls on the world government's marines.

So the marines are dedicated mainly to the persecution of pirates?

[justicereigns]

Justice. Protecting people from pirates is just the main job we have. Some marines let their judgement get clouded by absolute justice, but not always.

[uccellodifuoco]

Justice is a complex thing to fight for. It's easy to become blinded by it, or rather by what one believes that justice is.

That's why I prefer to simply say that I fight for Athena. I'm no one to say what is true justice after all.

[justicereigns]

Mm. True justice is doing what's right, because it needs to be done; however much it might hurt or be difficult.

And fighting for Athena? Much the same way would you say?

[uccellodifuoco]

The problem with that would be that what it's right may differ from person to person. For some, killing a person who is balancing between life and death, suffering an endless pain, will seem as the right thing to do. For others, the right thing would be to do everything they can to keep that person alive as long as possible even if it only serves to prolong the pain and wait.

I fight for Athena's justice, but if hers is true justice or not is something I can't judge. I can just believe in it and do my job, I don't care about anything else.
